
The new trade agreement The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) gives companies the right to sue states for obstruction of profits. Kent Persson, economic policy spokesperson for the Left Party, writes in ETC:
"The consequences are of course difficult to predict, but it could mean that large companies are given opportunities to influence the content of consumer issues, trade union rights and the possibility of stopping public profit-driven activities, which in the long run could become a threat to Swedish democracy."
The government sees no problem with the contract.
