In times of economic crisis, banks in the EU are now allowed to freeze the assets of all citizens , even small savers, for a month. What is the point of this? A recession is a demand shortage. If banks can freeze all saved assets for a month, surely that should worsen the demand crisis by further reducing the already low demand.
