New book shows that economists created the policy of austerity to recreate and preserve class divisions after the First World War. The author is Clara Mattei from Institute for New Economic Thinking. In the video below, Clara discusses her new book "The Capital Order: How Economists Invented Austerity and Paved the Way to Fascism". The state had to intervene in the social economy in order to win the First World War so that the class differences were evened out. The people began to see that another, more equal society was possible. The authorities wanted to put an end to this through the policy of austerity. That the austerity policy too paved the way for fascism was a price the authorities were ready to pay. Watch the film about the book below.
