The Ministry of Finance's forecast: golden situation for investments in the strong society
Election News 2018-08-16 Today, Magdalena Andersson presented the Ministry of Finance's latest forecast for the economic development in Sweden. The forecast is bright and Sweden's economy continues to be strong. In other words: good conditions for continuing to build a stronger society and a safer Sweden.
Sweden is in a completely different situation than four years ago. Unemployment has been pushed back, we have good growth and large deficits have been turned into surpluses. The national debt is this year at its lowest level since 1977.
- 300 more go to work today – of which 000 are in school, care and social care.
- We easily reach the alliance's goal of five million employed.
- The employment rate is at the highest level since the early 90s.
- The percentage of people who are dependent on health insurance, unemployment insurance, establishment compensation or livelihood support is the lowest since 1981 and falling.
Now we must continue with the abolition of the unfair pensioner tax, make major climate investments and investments to reduce school gaps. In the coming years, we must build and train staff for hundreds of new preschools, schools and homes for the elderly. The election on 9 September will therefore be nothing more than a referendum on welfare. Should we lower taxes for those who already have the most - or continue to invest in a stronger society and a safer Sweden for everyone? The choice is yours!
