The social workers carry out many important information. They assess people's right to livelihood support (social allowance), they investigate the living conditions of families in crisis and they provide support to people with various forms of addiction problems. The social workers work with society's most vulnerable citizens.
Many social workers are sick today bad at their work. An excessively high workload without the possibility of recovery, understaffing and a large administrative burden have a negative impact on everyday life. Many have also experienced threats and violence. According to the Work Environment Agency 1 in 3 social workers feel unwell because of the work situation.
Now its time that society values the social workers and their work efforts. It requires increased staffing, clear management and administrative support functions. The state and municipalities have important roles to play here. Likewise the unions.
