The Gothenburg moderate and member of parliament Cecilia Magnusson wants to ban begging. In a long debate article in DN she explains why:
"Prohibiting street begging as one of the efforts is not to prohibit poverty, but to remove one of the worst risks of perpetuating poverty. It is also an effort that is well in the spirit of the work line/…/.”
When the beggars are no longer allowed to beg they are not stigmatized. Instead, they get the opportunity to make a living on... Well, what? Cecilia Magnusson leaves the question open but indirectly refers to the work line. In other words: Get a job.
