The high-tech society creates great abundance. How should we distribute this? Must the great masses be underpaid and insecure so that a few rich people and employees high up in the hierarchies can wallow in society's opulence? Or do we partly want to reduce the size of the surplus somewhat so that we don't have to work so hard, and partly use the surplus that remains to ensure that everyone gets a good salary and access to a generous social security system?
