A knowledge society faces demands that an industrial society did not. If in an industrial society you did not study or were gifted, there was no problem with what happened to you. Then you had to take an unqualified and slightly lower paid job. But if you cannot take a post-secondary degree in a knowledge-based society, there is basically no job available at all.
This is a bourgeois elite society at its fingertips. Non-intellectuals don't bother.
The problem is that we pushed it further than that. Only if you belong to the elite of those with a post-secondary degree will you get a job.
We may not be able to return to industrial society. But we could mitigate the difficulties of the knowledge society. We could expand komvux, increase the study funds and extend the years with study funds at university level, so that you can retrain for a profession where there is a need for labour. In addition, we can expand the public sector, so that there are more jobs for all of us.
Your suggestion is good and I can supplement it with this.
In the 1960s, there was a shortage of labor among industrial jobs in Gothenburg. Josef was a young Italian refugee, 17 years old, from northern Italy above Trieste. The area was terrorized by the communists. He escaped and was eventually contacted by Swedish businessmen who offered him a job at SKF. He was flown here. In front of SKF across the street were homes. Despite his ignorance, he became a turner. He was taught. It went pretty well. He studied at Kjellbergska for high school qualifications. SKF paid a little and he then had a slightly lower salary. He then went on to university and received a theological degree. In a short time he learned Swedish through work and Swedish friends.
We have had such a model in Sweden, which worked perfectly.
He later took leave and enlisted at Gripsholm for a few years and returned to SKF. Student loans were low. He took a loan of SEK 27 in total by studying in the evenings and doing some work at SKF. He then worked in Gränge's steelworks but returned as a toolmaker and was at Volvo Pressverk until his retirement.
There should not be too high barriers to taking young people into a new workplace on an apprenticeship. It should be a salary that allows you to support yourself tolerably. There must be development steps together with competence development in practical steps or in theoretical subjects.
Studying theology must be possible. It gives the student important life experiences. Identifying such jobs should be included in the production development plan. Everything does not have to be 100% professional competence.
In a person's working life, there must be an opportunity to choose a new path. Every human being must be valued as a human being with a free consciousness and he is a creative being, not a living automaton that repeats the same movement work cycle after work cycle. Creatively, her person comes out to the outside world with or for other people.
There must be decision-making with independent planning of the work to be able to control and influence the outcome. The person's rights and dignity are here and must not be violated.
All workplaces must be able to offer work-free zones for internships. A person could switch between different jobs before deciding. Everything is about the development of each person.
