Society does not consist only of individuals who are not affected by the environment they are born into. Our environment affects us. We often learn requirements and expectations from those closest to us. Parents who are not used to studying may not be as good at motivating or helping their children at school. In environments with high crime, people are more often born into hopelessness than ideas of responsibility and community. This is the social legacy that means that everyone does not have the same opportunities to live up to society's demands. You are not born into a stall today, but you are born into a social context for better or worse.
In addition, the systems we create and the rules we have affect the possibilities of the individual. There is no person who is unaffected by the external conditions. Therefore, it is important to ask: Are our systems fair? That's what politics is all about. Politics is about the social system we have. What social system we have is about our values. It is about how we want society to function. What do we think is important and what do we think is less important? Which areas do we want to spend money on? Which occupations are important? What needs to be done and for whom?
