Unfortunately, many become xenophobic when jobs are scarce. If you eliminate unemployment by expanding the public sector, immigrants can more easily leave their exclusion. Everyone will become less xenophobic as the fight for jobs decreases. At the same time, more people who receive a salary can consume more and create profits for the social economy. The companies have to pay for this through taxes as compensation for their outsourcing and constant streamlining. People who want and are able to work have the right to an income from work.
So right, but don't forget that S and Lo in the 70s protected the Swedes' jobs, now nobody cares.. Then LO demanded housing and jobs in order to be allowed to come here.. (this did not apply to war refugees, etc. ..) but if you wanted to come here and stay to work and live, then there were these requirements.. Much like most other countries have, quite normally, you can name a country that provides me with housing, clothes, food, furniture for several years and free school for to learn the language, then I will consider leaving this country…
It is still the case that only real refugees get help with the things you mention. It is natural that if you accept a refugee, you must give him a minimal starting position. We would still have benefited from the refugees if we created jobs for all Swedes as well as immigrants. However, I believe that one cannot think too much in terms of the profitability of immigrants when it comes to refugees. I believe that we, as a rich country, have an obligation to receive those who are threatened with death, abuse or imprisonment due to oppression.
As for labor immigration, it was the citizens who made this possible. I think they did it to pressure wages and working conditions in Sweden.
I am not in favor of labor immigration. As far as refugees are concerned, we unfortunately cannot accept all of them, but I believe that we should be considerably more generous than today.
