When productivity increases, preferably without us working harder, we get more to distribute or things that under facilitate our livelihood, efficiency and comfort. Joe Biden's Green New Deal
Joe Biden's Green New Deal in the form of the IRA Act is a proposal for a comprehensive plan to combat climate change and create jobs in the green sector. Biden has been inspired by the original Green New Deal launched by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Edward Markey, but his proposal differs in some respects from theirs.
Biden has pushed through a multi-billion dollar IRA investment to fight inflation with industrial investment, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create millions of new jobs in the green sector. The plan includes, among other things, the following measures:
- To create a zero emission economy by 2050.
- To invest in renewable energy and develop new technologies to reduce emissions from the transport sector.
- To modernize the US electricity grid and make it more resilient to natural disasters.
- Investing in energy efficiency in buildings and industries.
- To strengthen environmental regulations and protect natural resources.
Biden also emphasizes that his plan aims to create new jobs in the green sector and to create a more fair and equal economy. He has also proposed measures to support coal miners and others who may be affected by the transition to a greener economy.
