The prize winner in economics in Alfred Nobel's memory, Joseph Stiglitz, is very critical of the TTIP trade agreement. TTIP is not about harmonizing and reducing tariffs, believes Stiglitz. Customs duties are already low and many agreements are in place. It is rather about removing democratic regulations from the market. This is via the so-called investor protection ISDS.
By extension, trade TTIP, therefore, about putting the market before the economy. The question becomes: Should the majority of the population or large corporations rule society?
