It is with jobs that require knowledge that Sweden must compete for job opportunities in the world. Jobs that require know-how provide higher pay and better conditions as they lead to higher productivity. Then it is absolutely right that the Social Democrats want to invest in the teachers' status and conditions. Without teachers, no workforce with high know-how.
The Social Democrats intend to invest SEK 3,5 billion annually to create an attractive teaching profession. Future reforms for the teaching profession have two clear focal points:
- Raise the quality of teacher education.
- Increase the attractiveness of the teaching profession.
This includes, among other things, more paths to the teaching profession, more career services in schools with tough conditions, skills development and support from management, and less administration.
