The bourgeois mass media portray the Swedish economy as i kris. Presumably they do this not only to maintain power. The citizens do not want the people to realize that good national economy and solidarity and tolerant ethics usually go hand in hand.
If the people are sufficiently rich but it still pays to be educated, then purchasing power increases, which is the basis for stable production and profit growth. When the red-greens came to power in 2014, they raised social security and the Swedish economy went off the rails soon after. Demand increased both in industry and the service sector for both qualified jobs and those without higher education requirements.
Sweden had a record economy with challenges during the Social Democrats 2014-2022.
The railway has fallen into disrepair for too long and the tenements are satisfactorily few, too expensive and poorly maintained. School results were too poor even in our record economy. We have a lot of professional skills that job seekers lack, which prevents job matching and an even more increasing employment rate on the labor market.
The solutions are several. Partly Keynesian investments with more resources to school, railway and construction of cheap tenements in a beautiful and preferably classicist style. To some extent, perhaps Sweden needs re-establishment. In most areas of the public sector, staffing and salaries need to increase in order for people to apply for these important jobs and to be able to cope with them in a high-quality and healthy way. As public sector jobs get better terms in a record economy, private companies must also improve their employee conditions to attract skilled labor.
Labor market training also for part-time sick
In addition, S-politician Ylva Johansson was right that supplementary vocational training is needed to provide the labor market with the skills it needs. Here is the traditional social democratic system with shorter labor market educations for which unemployment benefits are paid sovereignly. The citizens abolished this when the government took office in 2006. Some time after that, the job matching problems began to increase significantly. Over time, S 2014-2022 introduced labor market training courses.
The job training programs must exist both full-time and part-time so that part-time sick leave is not left without. The labor market education S introduced was often not part-time either.
It is also not possible to make education more efficient in any neoliberal sense. Therefore, the pedagogy should be humane with an appropriate pace of teaching so that the students have time to absorb the teaching and give space for reflection and analysis. Then the study group performs better. Then there should be supplementary training specifically aimed at graduates as well, so that they too can adapt to a labor market that changes in demand.
The highest possible wage subsidy needs to increase substantially. Even disabled people with high theoretical and economic value-creating skills need help to become attractive to employers.
Record economy requires an independent, power-critical S daily newspaper
Last but not least, the power of a bourgeois-dominated mass media structure shows how effectively it can paint the Swedish economy as running on rails as if it were in crisis. S needs its own daily newspaper to ensure that the description of reality in Sweden is factual, comprehensive and relevant. During the end of the mandate period in 2022, a lot of S online newspapers appeared. The red-greens need more of that. It is important that S-media must dare to also criticize the neoliberal elements of the Social Democrats as save-in-the-barns.
Then, an immigration large enough to respect the right to asylum requires Sweden to pursue a socialist and feminist daring foreign policy and aid policy to reduce the need from people abroad to flee to Sweden. Our former foreign minister Margot Wallström was an example here, but of course painted black by the bourgeois media. Research shows that immigration is good for our economy. Immigrants often take heavy, low-paid but very value-creating jobs on the floor.
Then in terms of domestic politics, we need to expand the public sector. As Ylva Johansson suggested, we need relevant labor market training for all different target groups to replace the jobs that the labor market is rationalizing away. The new works must be on good terms. Then large parts of the workforce need a high level of know-how. This is how we build a record economy. This is how we build a society for everyone.
