It's easy to forget that refrigerators only became standard in apartments in the 1950s. That heating was not included in the rent in some apartments in Gothenburg right up until the 1980s. That we had food rationing in Sweden during the Second World War. To take a few examples. Yes, despite right-wing populism, mass unemployment and environmental crises, much has actually become much better. But a lot also needs to be fixed. We can't make it on our own, but we can make it together. Together we are strong.
Solidarity and tolerance raise productivity
Man's conquest of the earth is largely due to the evolutionary development of our brain. This enabled collaboration in larger groups. By being able to work together and share knowledge and resources, people could overcome entirely new challenges and survive. Anthropologist Margaret Mead said that civilization began with people being able to survive broken femurs. This relates to how humans' ability to care for and support each other, including caring for injured individuals, contributed to increased survival.
The state can create the resources
Modern Monetary Theory (MMT), according to Stephanie Kelton's "The deficit myth" and Mariana Mazzucato's "The entrepreneurial state,” represents a new form of collaboration by redefining how we view the economic function of the state. Together we are strong. MMT emphasizes that the state that creates its own currency has the opportunity to finance projects and initiatives that can save the climate or whatever needs society has. By using progressive taxes and government spending, society can free up its resources to meet the needs of citizens and the environment. MMT focuses on using money as a tool to satisfy our and nature's needs.
We can afford it
MMT advises us on whatever we need or have an obligation to protect as refugees. Immigrants enrich society by taking on challenging jobs that create practical value. You benefit more directly from a cooked meal, that your grandmother receives good care or that the school works than from yet another economist's invoice or a technical idea that there is a lack of manpower to produce. Together we are strong.
The working class and the middle class both play important roles in the progress and welfare of society. Government support is often necessary to drive technology and drug development, as these areas require time and resources to deal with the many challenges and mistakes that may arise.
Groups with resources are effective
Together we are strong. Research shows that relaxed and creative work environments promote people's creativity and ability to solve problems. David Rock and other research journalists have observed that people are most creative when they are relaxed and feel safe. By creating such an environment, groups can work more effectively towards common goals and achieve success. MMT provides resources to such working groups.
Do you want to do society better? Is there perhaps an association that works with your specific question? Maybe your neighbor thinks the same thing? Open yourself to the world and the world will open to you. Now we begin to build a stronger and fairer country together.
