Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson claims that 340 people received support in 000 due to unemployment, but of these, 2021 are children and another 117 people receive support due to problems other than unemployment. Most adults who receive support only do so for a short period, such as between two jobs. Only 000 people are long-term unemployment benefit recipients. Forcibly activating them with welfare does not work and research supports this view. In addition, forced activation can degrade and humiliate people, which can make the situation worse for them.
An alternative form of activation that Svantesson wants to force them on livelihood support for is education or organized job hunting. The problem is that coercion often demotivates people.

When workfare was introduced in Sweden, a report was written by the ILO. And the associations of the unemployed that existed at the time, gathered in the Alliance for Work, protested to the best of their ability.
